InstantCard generally prints ID cards individually, on blank white card stock. However, we also have clients for whom we print variable information on top of a custom pre-printed card stock. If you need a large number of cards (at least 1,000 or 2,000 cards), then this may be an option worth considering.

If the only variable information to be printed on the cards are text fields like name, ID number, and barcode, then pre-printing may be cost-effective for you. This is often the case, for example, for insurance or medical ID cards. We can order a client-specified quantity of pre-printed cards, which we keep in inventory. These cards are printed using offset printing technology at the factory, which can be less expensive for color printing. Then, whenever you order cards, we only print black on top of the pre-printed card, which substantially reduces the cost of customization and personalization.

However, you must fall into a category where the type of card you require corresponds to the above profile. If, for example, you need to print color photos on the cards, then this method will probably not save you money.

Every case is different, and we would be pleased to do a cost comparison to help you determine the best alternative to meet your requirements.
