They have been working towards improving children’s lives, and the lives of their family members, through a coordinated response to child abuse and neglect. CAC is Florida’s largest children’s advocacy center. Additionally, it is the only advocacy center for children in its four-county area which is accredited by the National Children’s Alliance.

At CAC, we assess and treat kids believed to have been physically or sexually abused or to be at-risk of such abuse, and a provide a safe place for them to come and be heard. We offer abuse determination services as well as therapeutic counseling, parenting education and prevention programs in Lee, Hendry, Glades and Charlotte Counties.

Prevention Services:

Family First
The Family First program is a voluntary violence prevention and intervention program designed to provide families with the knowledge, skills and support they need to manage risk factors associated with violence and abuse. The program is offered to parents whose children attend one of four designated daycares in Lee and Hendry Counties or the Pine Manor After School & Summer Program. Partners in Parenting
Partners in Parenting is a parent education program based on the “Nurturing Parenting Program,” an evidence-based curriculum developed by Dr. Stephen Bavolek, Ph.D. for the treatment and prevention of child abuse. It consists of weekly classes (day and evening) in English and Spanish at several Lee County locations. Free childcare for infants and toddlers is also provided.

Pine Manor After School & Summer Program
This prevention-based program provides curriculum-based activities for children ages 5-12 who reside in Pine Manor. The goals of the program are to keep clients safe and help them reach their full potential by teaching them literacy skills, social skills and character-building skills. The program operates out of the Pine Manor Community Center (5547 10th Ave., Ft. Myers) Monday-Friday, 2:30-5:30 PM and in the summer or during holidays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

East United Way House
The East United Way House (4040 Palm Beach Blvd., Ft. Myers is a multi-agency outreach center offering social services which reflect the needs of the East Fort Myers community. For a current list of partner agencies, please call 239-313-7719 during hours of operation, Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Food pantry hours vary, call 313-7719. Services are available in English and Spanish.
